An Extensive Health Care Fraud Defense Practice

The Firm’s practice in this area focuses on health care fraud defense. The Firm has been involved in many large and high-profile civil and criminal government health care fraud investigations and qui tam cases across the country and in Florida. We have extensive experience in state and federal laws, rules and regulations governing reimbursement, including:

The Firm advises a wide array of health care industry clients on issues related to these laws, and defends corporate and individual health care clients in qui tam, whistleblower and related cases asserting violations of these laws. We represent corporate health care clients in investigations by the United States Department of Justice, the United States Attorney’s Office, the United States Attorney General, States Attorneys General, and State Medicaid Fraud Control Units (MFCUs). The Firm also assists in the design and implementation of compliance programs, and has structured and conducted many internal investigations, voluntary disclosures and compliance audits.

A Breadth and Depth of Relevant Experience

Marty Goldberg leads the Firm’s government investigations, False Claims Act and white collar criminal defense practice group. Before entering private practice, Marty served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida, where he tried more than 35 cases to verdict.  He argued numerous appeals before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and was honored by the Department of Justice with its Director’s Award for superior performance as a trial attorney, presented by the United States Attorney General.

Marty manages and resolves parallel criminal and civil investigations, and post-indictment proceedings. He has coordinated the defense of corporations involved in grand jury investigations, and has represented key corporate executives of numerous Fortune 500 companies both at the grand jury stage and after indictment. His background and experience enable him to seamlessly interface with state and federal government investigators and prosecutors, and navigate the nuances and complexities of large investigations and enforcement proceedings.
