After Winning Jurisdictional Ruling, Hospitals Resolve Underpaid Travel Insurance Claims

On behalf of four South Florida hospitals, Lash & Goldberg LLP sued Canadian travel insurance carriers in federal court who had underpaid claims for medical treatment provided to their insureds.  The Firm won a key jurisdictional ruling and defeated the insurers’ motion to dismiss the complaint, which required the Canadian insurers to litigate and stand trial in the United States district court rather than in the Canadian courts.

Health System Wins Summary Judgment in $500 Million Breach of Contract Claim

Lash & Goldberg LLP represented a national health care system against a vendor that had been contracted by certain of its hospitals to recover denied insurance claims.  The health system terminated the contract after it learned that the vendor had violated HIPAA via the unauthorized release of protected health information from hospital records.
