Clarissa H. Pinheiro is a senior counsel in LashGoldberg’s Miami office. Clarissa, a former federal prosecutor and seasoned litigator, concentrates her practice on healthcare litigation and arbitration, government investigations, and False Claims Act matters.

Prior to joining LashGoldberg, Clarissa served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the civil division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of Florida. She led complex health care fraud investigations and prosecutions involving hundreds of millions of dollars and handled matters involving regulatory non-compliance, cybersecurity non-compliance, Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, and HIPAA. In addition to untangling complex fraud schemes, Clarissa successfully defended the United States in lawsuits, including at trial. She was elected to the Leadership Advisory Council and nominated by her supervisors for the Younger Federal Lawyer Award, a national recognition of exceptional performance.

Before joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Clarissa was Chief of the Investigation and Prosecution Division at the U.S. Office of Special Counsel in Washington, D.C. There she litigated employment cases while conducting compliance investigations. 

Clarissa is a cum laude graduate of the University of Miami School of Law. She also earned B.A. degrees in International Studies, with Highest Distinction, and French, with Highest Honors and Highest Distinction, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is an active volunteer in non-profit organizations that offer opportunities to adults with disabilities.
